Prerequisites NotesApplicants are required to have 75% in each of: English 30-1; Pure Math 30 or Math 30-1 or Math 30-2; Physics 30; Biology 30; and 1 credit of post-secondary Medical Terminology completed within 5 years of the application deadline with a final grade of 60% or greater or completion of NAIT's Medical Terminology challenge examination with a minimum 60% pass. The NAIT course that meets this prerequisite requirement is ITMS100- Medical Terminology. It is not a requirement for Medical Terminology to be completed by the application deadline; however, if accepted into the program, proof of completion of the course or challenge exam with a passing grade of at least 60% MUST be submitted to the student application file by July 31st.

Cost per credit is $223 (for Domestic students). Tuition cap per semester is $2,167 (Domestic). Additional fees apply.
DescriptionDiagnostic Medical Sonography prepares students to conduct ultrasound examinations, focusing on obstetrics and gynecology, abdomen and superficial structures, cardiac sonography and vascular sonographic studies.

Students receive theoretical and clinical training in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Overall program goals and objectives are directly related to the National Competency Profile (NCP) version 5.0, approved by Sonography Canada.
