Prerequisites NotesAs Vancouver Community College is a post-secondary institution committed to educating adult learners, applicants should be 18 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school. Grade 12 graduation, GED or equivalent (applicants who have completed Drafting 11 and 12 in high school can apply for direct entry into Term 2 of the program).

DescriptionThis is one of the three drafting programs available at VCC. The first three months* covers the study of concepts, techniques and accepted practices in the drafting industry. Students learn computer aided drafting and are introduced to specialty areas of drafting.

In the final seven months of the program students learn to apply concepts of planning and civil technology to produce drawings for the development of an industrial site. Students also learn the basic concepts of Marine structures including wharfs, platforms and approach trestles. Preparation of engineering drawings of structures, which incorporate concrete, steel and timber are taught in the Structural portion of the program.
