Description | This is one of the three drafting programs available at VCC. The first three months* covers the study of concepts, techniques and accepted practices in the drafting industry. Students learn computer aided drafting, and are introduced to specialty areas of drafting.
The final seven months of the program introduces the unique technical drawing realm of structural steel detailing. Drawings of a variety of steel-framed structures are broken down into components that can be transported from the fabrication plant for assembly at the erection site. During the last four months, structural and geometric calculations are used extensively in problem solving. Projects used simulate "real world" structures. The use of XSTEEL and PRO STEEL 3D software packages will be used in the final three months of the program. | | |
