Description | This specialist program is intended for graduates of the Administrative Assistant program, and for experienced administrative assistants wishing to work in the legal field. Students acquire the skills and knowledge to apply time management principles and set priorities to create, edit, store and retrieve legal documents and correspondence using computers. They also perform legal administrative assistant duties and procedures in the areas of general law, wills and estates, litigation, conveyancing, family law and corporate procedures.
The main emphasis is on the development of practical skills including machine transcription. Students are required to work individually, and in teams. Theory is presented in lectures, demonstrations, videos and field trips. Program time is set aside for work experience where the student may be placed in a challenging work environment within a law firm or law-related office. | | |
