Description | Students learn the basics of American Sign Language and develop an understanding of the foundations of Deaf Culture. In this visually intensive environment, instructors are native signers and no words are spoken in the classroom. A wide range of educational techniques are employed to enable students to practise grammar, syntax and vocabulary, including norms and culturally appropriate interactions. Through classroom instruction and practical learning activities, students develop an understanding of the complexities of American Sign Language.
Please note that this is not an interpreter training Program. The intent is to provide students with an introduction to American Sign Language. To qualify for this certificate, students must complete the program within five years. | | |
