Life Sciences


Overview

The Life Sciences specialization is a cross-disciplinary program that features core courses in fundamental biological sciences (animal, plant, microbiology, cell, and molecular) and specializations that range from concentrations in pure biology to multidisciplinary and applied life sciences. You will enjoy small class sizes and a great variety of laboratory and field-based courses for practical experience, including internships and research projects.  

The specialization in Life Sciences (Multidisciplinary) at McGill offers a unique, comprehensive learning experience. You can tailor an education in the life sciences that truly fits your interests. Depending on the courses you choose, the program can be as broad or specialized as you’d like. 

Choose from courses in agriculture, environment, food sciences, biology, animal health, among others. Whichever path you choose, scientific writing courses and extensive lab work will prepare you for a rewarding career or future studies. 

This specialization must be taken with a major in the BSc(AgEnvSci). The recommended major is Life Sciences (Biological & Agricultural).

Life sciences is a broad field and can lead you to a variety of career paths. You can work in research and development or one of many areas of applied science. You may also wish to pursue graduate studies or a secondary degree in a professional program like veterinary science or medicine.
