Residency

The Cardiac Surgery Residency Training Program has become recognized as one of the premiere programs in Canada and is inundated with applications from extremely high caliber individuals each year. Our focus currently is on the acceptance of one high caliber applicant each year into the six year training program at a PGY-1 level. Entry is from medical school and applications are made through CARMS. The program complies with the requirements of the Royal College of Canada (including CanMEDS).

Note for Non-Canadian applicants: Application to the cardiac surgery residency program is currently through CARMS. For further information, graduates of Non-Canadian medical schools wishing to train in cardiac surgery at Western University.
