Hands-On Experiences


Apply the concepts and theories you’re studying to real world challenges. Engage in guided practical experiences in the classroom, workplace, community and abroad. These are some opportunities for Mathematics students. 

  • Use investment case studies and real-world predicting (for example, in bungee jumping or predator-prey dynamics), and explore math through fields such as biology, economics and finance. 
  • Join Club Infinity, York University’s official math club, to participate in activities and events. 
  • Consider an exchange abroad or with one of our partner universities in Quebec. 
  • Enrol in Le français par l’expérience to expand your knowledge of French and francophone culture by doing a work placement. 

Admission Requirements


  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with an average* in the mid to high 70s 
  • Minimum of six 4U or 4M courses, including 4U English (ENG4U) or FRA4U  
  • A combination of U and M courses; OACs are accepted  
  • MHF4U required; MCV4U recommended  
  • Proficiency in English OR French  

* Average is calculated based on the top six 4U; 4M or DU courses
