Russian

Overview

McGill's Major in Russian will give you a foundation in Russian language, literature, and culture from the 19th century to the present. This program offers a balance of instruction in the Russian language. You will read selected texts in their original language and explore Russian language and culture through translated texts.

The Minor in Russian will give you a basic working knowledge of Russian and the tools to explore Russian life and culture.

Russian studies are highly relevant to the organization of human society, comparative literature, and linguistics. You may be particularly drawn to Russian studies as a Canadian student due to similarities in geography, climate, industrial and economic growth.
