When you major in Multidisciplinary for your BFA, you'll choose a first concentration from one fine arts department:

Then choose a second and third concentration from the remaining departments. Your concentration can include specific majors within a department. For example, you may choose Indigenous Art Studio as your Art concentration, Digital Audio arts for a Music concentration, Technical/Design as a Drama concentration, etc. Enhance your studies further by adding complementary courses from inside and outside the Faculty of Fine Arts with your liberal education requirements.

Professional Development

Gain professional art gallery experience, participate in a dynamic season of theatre activities, (including Mainstage productions supervised by professors), be a part of music ensembles or music studio courses, have access to Studio One, our world-class recording studio, or expand your experiences and gain new perspectives beyond the classroom with internships.

Work-Integrated Learning

You have full access to co-operative education, international exchanges, independent and applied studies as well as volunteer opportunities. uLethbridge is the only university in Alberta to offer co-operative education to all majors, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Fine Arts student Kort Woycheshin has been exploring his interests in music, photography, writing and videography as a Multidisciplinary major in the BFA program at ULethbridge. He earned him several significant awards and scholarships with his enthusiasm, and he's built critical skill-sets with work-integrated learning.

Why did you choose to pursue fine arts at ULethbridge?

"In my first year at ULethbridge, I was making a lot of videos and taking photos of everything for fun. Friends tried to convinced me to switch my major from History to New Media, but because I also love music, I thought Multidisciplinary would work best for me. In the end, I pursued Art (Art Studio) as my second stream, and Music (Digital Audio Arts) is third, with New Media as first stream."

Have you earned any Fine Arts awards or scholarships?

"I received the Roloff Beny Foundation Photographic Award, the David Lanier Memorial Award, and the Abbondànza Fine Arts Undergraduate Award. All these awards helped me pursue photography at the highest level without worrying about material or equipment costs."

How have your professors and instructors affected your student life?

"I took courses with Katie Bruce and David Miller, and both professors impacted my life tremendously. Both gave me an excellent amount of confidence in my artistic abilities and have been huge mentors in my academic and professional life. They've continued to support me beyond their classes."
