About the Bachelor of Business Administration Program
Set yourself up for success as a business leader. This business degree prepares you to contribute to and compete in a global and dynamic business environment, developing the skills you need today and in the future.
Choose your path of study by selecting a concentration in Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Small Business, or Financial Services. You also have the option to select a minor from a range of business or non-business disciplines, which may include credit toward professional designations such as Accounting, Human Resources or Financial Services.

Work-integrated Learning
No matter which pathway you choose, you’ll participate in two 90-hour work-integrated learning opportunities as well as project-based courses where you will do in the classroom what you would do on the job.
Further Study
Some graduates of the Bachelor of Business Administration program go on to pursue graduate studies, such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA). You can pursue graduate studies at any time after graduation and will meet the minimum requirements for MBA programs at universities across Canada, the United States and Europe.

Admission Requirements
Admission requirements for specific programs will often refer to Alberta Grade 12 course groups. Visit the Admission Requirements page for detailed group descriptions.
International Students: If you are an international student or have completed your high school education outside of Alberta, please refer to our International Course Equivalencies page for information on how your coursework may align with our admission requirements.
Eligibility for admission to the Bachelor of Business Administration program at Red Deer Polytechnic requires applicants to meet minimum academic requirements. Qualified applicants who meet all minimum requirements will be offered admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
Academic Requirements
Students applying to the Bachelor of Business Administration must have the following:
- Minimum of 65% or higher in ELA 30-2, OR 60% or higher in ELA 30-1, or their equivalents
- Minimum of 65% or higher in Math 30-2, OR 60% or higher in Math 30-1, or their equivalents

Additional Requirements
Red Deer Polytechnic’s Business Certificate and Business Diploma programs provide credit toward the Bachelor of Business Administration.
If you have successfully completed the Business Certificate, you can enter this program in year two.
If you have successfully completed the Business Diploma, you can enter this program in year three.
English Language Proficiency
Applicants who declare English as a first language are exempt from ELP requirements. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English Language Proficiency (ELP) for admission to credit programs by providing official documentation to the Office of the Registrar at international.admissions@rdpolytech.ca or by regular mail, after an online application has been submitted. All ELP tests must have been obtained within two years of the date their program starts. ELP requirements are in addition to the other admission requirements noted above.
Prior Learning and Transfer
Students presenting Diplomas from other recognized post-secondary institutions may be granted transfer credit towards the Bachelor of Business Administration, visit our Recognition of Prior Learning and Transfer Credit page to learn more.
Recommended for Practicum Placements
While not an admission requirement for the program, some practicum agencies and field placements may require Police Information Checks of students working in their organizations. Information about obtaining Police Information Checks will be provided to students after they have been admitted to the program.
Recommended for Online Learners
While not an admission requirement for the program, in order to be successful, students should have basic computer skills, such as the ability to function independently on basic computer software programs and to carry out basic Internet navigation.

Program Content
In the Bachelor of Business Administration program, you will complete 40 courses. All students will complete the same 20 core business courses and three core non-business courses. Some of the other courses you complete will be determined by the concentration you choose, and others you’ll select as options. You can create a program plan that helps you achieve your unique goals.

Graduation Requirements
You must pass all courses with a minimum grade of “D” and achieve a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 (62%).
