FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

Linguistics & Languages

What Will I Learn in the Linguistics Program?

This program is designed to help students understand how language and communication function. Students who concentrate on applied aspects of linguistics will have a good preparation for teaching languages and may be able to apply for official certification in Teaching Language as a Second Language (TESL). Linguistics is also a good platform for careers in law, education, publishing and the language software industry.

All courses listed in the calendar are not always offered every year.

Students wishing to enter into a Linguistics major will apply at the end of their first year. Application for Admission to Level II will occur in mid-March on the Mosaic student information system. Visit the ‘Choosing Your Program’ guide for more information.
