Given the increasing use of video on today's devices, there is a growing interest in producing polished video products. Using current software that provides broad support for file-based and DSLR footage, students are introduced to non-linear video editing and composition. The focus is on the basic steps of the editing process, from acquiring digital media, to editing with a timeline-based interface, syncing audio and finally exporting the resulting video product to the web.
Much of the impact of a professional video is conveyed through a well-composed audio track. Students use industry-standard software tools to create, record, edit and arrange high-quality audio for multimedia projects. To acquire the best sound possible, students experiment with a variety of audio equipment and software and select microphone techniques and types appropriate to the project.
Motion graphics and special effects may be used to enhance video moments. The focus is on the powerful capabilities of motion graphics programs. Students create motion graphics and, using green screen technology, special effects within basic video editing projects.
