English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

With an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) focus, these options offer maximum benefit to participants wishing to increase their English proficiency for study in university undergraduate and graduate programs. The Intensive English Term Format and the Intensive English Term Segment can equip you with the English language skills you need.

The challenging academic classes focus on learning targets to improve your ability to write, read, problem solve, study independently, give presentations, and improve note-taking and critical thinking skills.

Why take this program?

  • Classes are held Monday through Friday
  • Full-time language studies incorporate class time, homework, tutorials and advising
  • Available for all language proficiency levels, beginner to advanced
  • Participants commit to function only in English during all classes, projects and workshops
  • Specialized ELP curriculum in major components of language (oral, aural, speaking, reading, writing) designed to improve students’ abilities to communicate effectively, efficiently and spontaneously at a level appropriate to undergraduate/graduate study

Intensive English

This program is offered Monday through Friday (35+ hours per week) and offers individualized timetables, exposure to various teachers, and access to the UNB library system. Students can choose from an entire term or a segment of the term.

Intensive English Term Format

Dates

  • Summer Term: May 1 (registration) - June 29, 2023
  • Fall Term: September 6 (registration) - December 7, 2023
  • Winter Term: January 8 (registration) - April 5, 2024

Cost*

  • $5,975 per term
  • $550 application fee (100% applied to the course cost - $200 non-refundable)

Intensive English Term Segment

Dates

  • Fall Segment I: September 6 (registration) - October 24, 2023
  • Fall Segment II: October 16 (registration)- December 7, 2023
  • Winter Segment I: January 8 (registration) - February 23, 2024
  • Winter Segment II: February 12 (registration) - April 5, 2024

Cost*

  • $3,542 per segment
  • $550 application fee (100% applied to course cost - $200 non-refundable)

*Prices are in effect May 1, 2023 until April 30, 2024. All fees are in Canadian dollars and are subject to increase without notice. 30 days written notice of cancellation prior to course commencement is required before a refund is considered.
