ELC Student Life: It’s In Your Hands!

At UVic’s English Language Centre, we know what’s important to you: Meeting new friends and exploring new places, feeling inspired, sharing stories, being part of a community, being challenged and achieving your goals...Over 40 years of offering English programs to international students has taught us what motivates you to learn and live with us in Victoria.

Experience has also taught us that there are as many ways to satisfy these motivations as there are students in the classroom. And that’s the way it should be! So, at the ELC, we do our part by offering the programs, services and support you need to lead the Student Life that’s right for you.

It’s like an all-you-can-eat buffet. We place the options on the table so that you can take what you want now, and maybe try something different later. Attending classes and doing homework is a given, but what happens after that? A weekend whale watching trip? Extra listening practise at the Computer Assisted Language Lab? Meeting with a Canadian conversation partner? Relaxing at home with your host family? Pronunciation tutoring in our Study Centre? Volunteering in the community? Joining a UVic sports club?
