Description:

2D animation has been around since the 1800’s and involves creating two-dimensional characters, backgrounds and storyboards. 2D animation has evolved from using hand drawn images to using computer-based software such as Toon Boom Harmony, Adobe Flash and After Effects to create and edit images, but it still plays an important role in the world of animation today.

This program provides a well-rounded curriculum and prepares students with the skills and competencies needed to pursue a career in TV, movie production and more. Areas of study include introduction to animation and animation software, arcs, anticipation, drawing, posing, character rigging, character animation and more.Note:12 months (20 hours/week) includes 6 week internship.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    A person who has a Secondary V degree or a D.E.P., or has received instruction deemed acceptable by the College and who meets one of the following requirements may be admitted to a program leading to an A.E.C.:
    - The person's studies have been interrupted for at least two consecutive terms or one school year.
    - The person is covered by an agreement entered into by the College and an employer or by a government program.
    - The person has completed at least one year of post-secondary studies spread over a period of one year or more.
    Application Notes : Minimum of a Canadian high-school grade 12 or equivalent, or a mature student. Applicants must pass an entrance assessment administered by Herzing College and complete a detailed interview regarding interest in the field.
