Description:The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences offers degree programs in geology (GEO) as well as in environmental geoscience and geology-physics in partnership with the Department of Physics. Research strengths at the department include environmental geosciences, sedimentary systems, natural resources, earth materials and geodynamics.

Geology involves the study of the composition, structure and evolution of the Earth and other planetary bodies. The discipline builds from a basic understanding of physics, chemistry, and often biology, and extends into many specialties like mineralogy, petrology, paleontology, sedimentary systems, environmental geology, economic geology, geochemistry, structural geology and geophysics

  •  Grade12 Advanced Functions 
  •  Grade12 Calculus and Vectors 
  • 2 of  Grade12 Biology  or  Grade12 Chemistry  or  Grade12 Physics  or  Grade12 Earth and Space Science 
A minimum combined average of 70% is required for all prerequisite courses in science and mathematics.


Students who do not have Calculus and Vectors 4U can take the replacement course at the University either the summer before or during their first term.

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages: Certificate in Advanced English [min. C1] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 86] or CanTEST [min. 4.5] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
