Description:What is behind the world food crisis? Why does food seem to travel so far to get to the table? With the economic dynamics at play today, those with a role in the agriculture and food system require solid financial and market analysis and appropriate policies. This specialization gives students the skills to respond to these needs, by providing a broad understanding of agriculture and food systems, including international development, and specialized skills in business management. Career opportunities include farm and agribusiness management, banking and finance, and marketing positions in the agri-food industry.

This 24-credit specialization includes courses in agricultural sciences, agribusiness, and courses at the Desautels Faculty of Management.

  • 2 of  Grade12 Chemistry  or  Grade12 Physics  or  Grade12 Biology 
  •  Grade12 Mathematics  or  Grade12 Calculus and Vectors 
A DEC in an appropriate Science program, and the following prerequisites: Biology - NYA (OOUK), Chemistry - NYA, NYB (OOUL, OOUM), Mathematics - NYA, NYB (OOUN, OOUP), and Physics - NYA, NYB, NYC (OOUR, OOUS, OOUT). If applying to the B.Sc.(Ag.Env.Sc.) Major in Agricultural Economics only, you will be considered with a DEC in Social Science if it includes Mathematics 103 and 203. An overall Cote R of 24 is required with 24 or better in each of the mathematics prerequisites. If accepted, you will then be required to complete one course each of biology, chemistry, and physics.
