The Master of Applied Science in Engineering degree is a research-based degree with a thesis. The degree is suited to students who wish to pursue a research-based program in engineering disciplines such as, but not limited to, civil, environmental, structural, and building sciences.

MASc in Engineering students are expected to complete an original research program, culminating in the preparation of a thesis. Graduates are prepared for careers in applied research and engineering or for further academic study.

To submit your application online, you will need:

• Unofficial copies of transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attended (unofficial transcripts). Transcripts should be submitted in the original language they were produced in, accompanied by English translations (if required). International applicants are required to upload proof of degree as well. For more information see requirements for including transcripts with your application.
• Applicants are required to hold a four-year Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution in engineering or related area. Acceptance to the MASc program is contingent upon prospective students finding a faculty member to serve as their supervisor.
• A statement of academic interest (programs may have specific requirements for the statement of interest, please review the program specific admission requirements below for specific program requirements).
• Name and contact information for your references (an institutional email address is required). References should be submitted no later than 2 weeks after the published deadline for your program. Please review our guide to tracking your application to monitor receipt of your references.

• Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) or Pearson Test of English (Academic)

• Letter(s) of Reference
• Statement of Research Interests

Interview requirement

Please be aware that if you have met all entry requirements and your application is sent to program for review, you are required to be available for a phone/Zoom interview. 

Please ensure that all your contact information, including phone number, is updated and correct on your application. If for some reason, your contact number changes after you have submitted your application, please email Graduate Admissions with your updated contact number. Please include your EPBC Reference Number in this email.  

If you do not provide a current contact number and the program is unable to reach you, your application may be closed as incomplete.
