The earth sciences deal with the history of the Earth and its life, especially the history recorded in rocks. The Department of Earth Sciences gives students the theoretical and instrumental expertise needed to tackle many resource extraction, mineral processing and environmental problems.

The transition from fossil fuels to renewable resources and understanding the implications on Earth’s changing climate are global issues which require a combined earth- and environmental-science based approach. Earth scientists are integral in evaluating climactic changes and environmental impacts of resource development.

High school graduation, including 5 full credits at the Grade 12 level.

A minimum average of 70% over the following, with no less than 60% in each course:

1. English
2. Pre-Calculus Mathematics
3. Chemistry
4. Physics
