|Description:||This one-year Ontario College Certificate program enhances the student`s knowledge and appreciation of First Nations, Inuit and Metis Peoples. Students study culture and heritage, contemporary issues, Indigenous languages, community development strategies, and Indigenous law and government. Students have the opportunity to explore their heritage through a genealogy course. Courses in communications, computer applications and career planning are also included in the program of study.
Graduates of the one-year program are eligible to receive an Ontario College Certificate in General Arts and Science - One Year - Aboriginal Studies. Graduates can apply to another program at the College or continue their studies in Year II of the General Arts and Science Ontario College Diploma program. Some credits may be considered as transfer credits towards other college programs

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants with an OSSD showing senior English and/or Mathematics courses at the Basic Level, or with Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine their eligibility for admission; OR
Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate; OR
General Educational Development (GED) certificate; OR
Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without a high school diploma at the start of the program). Eligibility may be determined by academic achievement testing for which a fee of $50 (subject to change) will be charged.
