Description:Power Engineering Technology is designed train students to become certified power engineering technologists who can control large, complex power and process systems. The program offers a high-level course of study that trains students to perform production work in the operation and development of large energy projects such as oil sands, gas plants and electrical generating stations. This program is integrated with the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) certification system. This program is offered full time and can be completed in two years. Each academic year is divided into two 16-week semesters.

Graduates find work as plant operators, design assistants, research and development assistants and process operators in the petroleum, power, petrochemical, refining, and pulp and paper industries. Opportunities also exist for positions in field and design offices and mechanical or industrial sales outlets.

Completion of the following courses or equivalents:

At least 60% in Math 30-1 or Pure Math 30, or at least 75% in Math 30-2,

At least 60% in English Language Arts 30-1 or 75% in English Language Arts 30-2,

At least 60% in Physics 30.

All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.
