Description:Make lifelong friendships and be part of a small and engaged community of scholars and activists working for environmental and social justice. The North-South Studies Profile challenges students academically and gives them an overview of social science disciplines related to international development. The heart of the experience is a three-week trip to a community in the Global South in the second year. While living with a local host family, students conduct field research, attend conferences, participate in community projects and learn by working alongside youth, women, labour and community organizations. As eyewitnesses to various struggles in the Global South and in Canada, graduates leave with a life-changing perspective and a sense of purpose.
