Tourism and Travel Services Management
Description:The common first year of Hospitality and Tourism Management will provide a mix of general business courses as well as tourism and hospitality specific courses. This is intended to provide exposure to various aspects of the Hospitality/Tourism industry before selecting a second year major in either Hotel & Restaurant Management or Tourism Management. A variety of workshops will assist students in understanding the industry (e.g. Professional Development and Cross Cultural Communications) and in obtaining certification required by the tourism industry (e.g. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System WHMIS, First Aid, It's Good Business).

The Hotel and Restaurant Management major will focus primarily on two of the eight tourism sectors - Food and Beverage and Accommodation. The courses will be delivered from a supervisory or management perspective. The Hospitality Simulation offered in the final term is a capstone course requiring students to work in teams to resolve a variety of case studies, drawing on academic and work experience from previous terms. The Tourism Management major will discuss elements of the tourism sectors, excluding accommodations and food and beverage. A selection of business courses are also included in the curriculum. The program mix is intended to provide students with a broad picture of the tourism industry and the scope of employment opportunities available.
