|Field of Study:||Visual and Performing Arts, General
|Description:||The academic emphasis of the Department is on contemporary art practices, rather than applied or craft training. The program is designed to provide intensive studio experience in a critical setting pertinent to the pursuit of art in our culture. Studies are enriched by visiting artists and critics, and the presence of graduate students from Canada and abroad. In addition to the regular program, the Department may offer courses each summer which are staffed by notable visiting artists.
Our students are eligible to participate in the Humanities, Fine Arts and Professional Writing Co-operative Education Program, a year-round program which enables students to combine work experience with their Visual Arts training by alternating studies with paid terms working for government, theatres, galleries, libraries, arts groups, newspapers, publishers, private firms and more.
