Field of Study: | Health Services/Allied Health/Health Sciences, General Medicine (MD)
|
Description: | The core program incorporates both regular bedside clinical teaching and formal rounds, which occur throughout the week and include clinical sign-in rounds, therapeutic rounds, critical appraisal rounds, and diagnostic rounds. An academic half-day occurs every Thursday afternoon where relevant clinical case studies, didactic material, and key literature references are discussed in a small group environment with participation by both residents and faculty.
A compendium of critically appraised literature is distributed to trainees in PGY-1 year. The academic half-day is protected teaching time for all residents. There is a critical appraisal course offered to PGY-1 trainees. The advanced course is offered to PGY-3 trainees. Each trainee year has a journal club that meets in the evenings to discuss important articles in the literature. |
