Description: | The educational needs of trainees are pre-eminent at UWO. The training program has been developed to provide residents with as much flexibility as possible while still meeting the Royal College requirements. The program comprises five years of postgraduate training.
Our residents carry an average load of four patients during their inpatient rotations. The load during outpatient rotations varies between six to twelve patients per week. |

Prerequisites:* | These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Candidates must have an academic record which demonstrates proficiency in psychiatry and related subjects, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a relevant degree or equivalent. |
Additional Admission Requirements: | Three reference letters, including one from a psychiatrist attesting to the suitability of the candidate for psychiatry are required. Candidates who complete at least one elective rotation in psychiatry are viewed favourably; electives completed at UWO are given greatest weight. |
