Description:Our Master’s program in Sociology provides students with critical training in leading-edge research methods, social theory, and courses in a wide variety of substantive areas such as: social movements; race and ethnicity; globalization; family and gender; sexuality; and social policy. As a graduate student, you have the option of enroling in either our “course stream” or “thesis stream” programs.



With innovative course offerings, approachable professors, a welcoming milieu, and partnership opportunities in the culturally vibrant Windsor-Detroit area, our program opens the door to pursuing research on the critical social issues of our era. A master’s degree prepares students for work in research settings including government, community based or market research, work in the private sector in areas that relate to human resources, equity, and community development. We provide an environment conductive to research and learning that reflects disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to societies, cultures, crime, and social control in a changing world.

Applicants must submit: Two academic Referee Assessment Forms, Statement of Interest or Plan of Study, Curriculum Vitae or Resume, and a Program Stream Option Form. For admission to the MA program in Sociology, applicants must hold an honours degree in sociology or a related discipline from a recognized university. Possession of the minimum academic requirements does not ensure acceptance. Applicants will be assessed with respect to their academic qualifications, achievements, and letters of recommendation.
