Description:While specializing in music studies, students are introduced to diverse fields of human knowledge within a supportive environment. This holistic approach enhances students' scholastic insights and fosters self-confidence, which in turn facilitates appreciation of the traditions, cultures, and viewpoints of others. Such an approach also promotes versatility and flexibility in the job market, important traits of successful twenty-first-century professional musicians.

The comprehensive strand is for those who seek intensive studies in an instrument or voice, variety in music options, and advanced studies in music history, theory, and ensembles. This prepares students to enter graduate study in more specific fields such as music theory, music history, ethnomusicology, and popular music studies. Careers include professional wind, brass, and string players, choral and instrumental conductors, arts administrators, professional librarians, and others.
