Description:The Graduate Program in Philosophy offers rigorous training for MA students in preparation for admission to PhD programs, and supports PhD students in developing a professional research profile. Our program specializes in a number of research areas, including: (i) ethics, political philosophy, and philosophy of law; (ii) philosophy of cognitive science, mind, and language; (iii) history of 19th and 20th century philosophy; and (iv) philosophy of science and epistemology.



Our program teaches both traditional and interdisciplinary methods, including empirical, conceptual, and applied approaches. Faculty in the graduate program also engage in ongoing discourse with researchers in other disciplines, including law, psychology, neuroscience, and healthcare. Students may complement their training with graduate diplomas, including the Diploma in Value Theory and Applied Ethics and the Neuroscience Graduate Diploma.

Students with an MA degree in philosophy with at least a B+ average can be considered as candidates for the PhD degree.
