Description:A degree designed to give you the best of both worlds, Critical + Cultural Practice provides a liberal arts education where your critical work is informed by your material practice, and vice versa. This rigorous academic program allows you to combine humanities courses with hands-on creativity.

In this program, you will study art history, design history, English, humanities, media history, social sciences, and writing. While academic courses make up between 30 to 50 percent of other programs at ECU, they comprise a majority of credits for Critical + Cultural Practice.

Admission Requirements

  •  Grade12 English 
The minimum academic requirement for admission to Emily Carr University undergraduate programs is graduation from grade 12 secondary school, with five grade 12 subjects, including English Studies 12 with a minimum grade of 'C', two other grade 12 academic courses and two grade 12 elective courses. The minimum overall grade point average required for admission is 2.5 or C+ or 67%. All elective courses must be grade 12 and can be Ministry Approved, Board Approved or Locally Developed.
