Description:If you are a regulated health professional who wishes to: - Pursue graduate level education to further your career progression; Gain a broader understanding of the Canadian health care policy development and service delivery environment, and Obtain core management knowledge and skills, then McMaster's Master of Health Management (MHM) program is for you! You can choose to enroll in the Full-time stream and complete the program in 12 months. Or you can choose to enroll in the Part-time stream and complete the program in 32 months. The online format of this program allows you to live and study in your community. A study visa may be possible for those wishing to study in Canada Full-time.



The successful MHM graduate will: - Value, contribute to and promote knowledge for individual advancement as well as for the broader community; Compile information and express their interpretations using effective communication styles and techniques and use of related technologies; Identify, synthesize and analyze information in a coherent and methodical way to advance problem solving and the creation of new information;Develop an awareness and appreciation of the complexities and interrelationship between the political and healthcare environments through appraising and critiquing information; Explain strategic management and marketing principles, theoretical perspectives and practices, and apply them in the healthcare industry; Examine and analyze financial data and related management techniques to support good financial management practices; Critically evaluate a wide range of data sources; appraise, synthesize and communicate evidence to support the creation of new knowledge or evidence to shape management decision‐making; and Assess leadership styles and apply methods/skills which motivate others to excel within an ethical and supportive environment.

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants are required to be a regulated health professional (for example: audiologist, dietician, nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, psychologist, and MD), and be a member in good standing of the applicant's professional affiliation in his/her own province/country. Applicants must also have acquired a minimum B+ (75%) average from a post-secondary 4-year degree. Applicants who do not have a regulated health professional designation will be considered if: 1. You have a four year bachelor degree with a minimum B+ (75%) average, AND 2. You have a minimum of 12 months working experience within the healthcare system as a healthcare professional OR you have a minimum of 12 months experience within the healthcare system with supervisory experience of regulated health professionals.

    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 92] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 580] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 237] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
    Application Notes : Applicants whose native language is not English will be required to submit an official copy of their TOEFL score, or other evidence of competency in English is required. A minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 92 (580 on the paper-based TOEFL test or 237 on the computer-based TOEFL test) is needed for the Faculty of Health Sciences. Students taking the IELTS are required to achieve a minimum score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 5.5 in each category. Equivalent scores on other recognized tests may also be considered. Each of these scores are only valid for 2 years. Students who have completed an Academic ESL program through Canadian academic institutions may petition to have this considered in lieu of TOEFL. Applicants may be exempted from this requirement if they have completed a university degree at which English is the language of instruction.
