Description:The Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography considers research and graduate education essential aspects of its mandate. The department has offered the M.Sc. program since 1960, and introduced its first PhD program in 1969.

The department has active research programs in experimental and theoretical physics, in atomic and molecular physics, condensed matter physics and physical oceanography. Faculty members also participate in the interdisciplinary M.Sc. programs in computational science and environmental science.
