The Diploma in Financial Services will provide students with a solid understanding of banking, investments, insurance and financial services products. Graduates will be well prepared to build their business with skills in sales and negotiation, marketing, advertising, marketing research, advertising, interpersonal communication, business writing, and relevant computer software applications.Through studies in business, tax, and investment law, students will have a foundation to build upon to develop financial strategies for clients. Further accreditation may be required to work in the financial services industry.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants are required to have completed BC Grade 12 or equivalent or be 19 years of age or older. Applicants must also satisfy the category 2 English Language Requirement. Applicants who have attempted 24 credits or more of post-secondary study must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher.
    Additional Admission Requirements:
      To be admitted and participate in the Co-operative Education Option, students must: be enrolled in 3 or more program courses (minimum 9 credits), not including EXPE 2300 (formerly BUSM 2300/COOP 2300); achieve and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.6 in each term; successfully complete an employability assessment interview with a Co-op instructor; and complete EXPE 2300 (formerly BUSM 2300/COOP 2300) with a 'C' or higher.
