Description:By choosing Classical Studies at Acadia, you will grow your capacity to understand the modern world and the significant global challenges we all face. As a student of classics, you will learn about global history while focusing on archaeology, mythology, and the cultural legacy of Greece and Rome. In order to maximize your understanding of this rich historical context, you will develop language skills in Greek and Latin. The Classical Studies program stresses critical writing and reading skills. In fourth year, you will have the opportunity to write an honours thesis based on primary research in an area of your interest.

Applicants are required to have English 12 or English 12: African heritage, and four additional Grade 12 Academic or Advanced courses. Minimum overall average of 70%.
Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
Application Notes : Since English is the language of instruction at Acadia University, candidates must be able to communicate competently in English both orally and in writing, and students whose first language is not English may be required to present the result of the TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL or PTE Academic. Acadia's English requirements are as follows: TOEFL - 90 IBT with no subtest score below 20; IELTS - 6.5 with no subtest score below 6.0; CAEL - 70 with no subtest score below 60; PTE Academic - 61 with no subtest score below 60; Cambridge English: Advanced - 176 with no subtest score below 169; or MELAB - 80.
