Description:Environmental and Sustainability Studies is an interdisciplinary subject that will challenge you to combine skills and knowledge from a variety of different fields. You will gain a more complete understanding of natural and human environments, and you will be ready to lead change. Acadia’s Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ESST) major develops environmental leaders, managers and professionals who are critical and insightful thinkers as well as creative problem solvers. We strive for you to become skilled in leading transformational change towards more sustainable, just, and socially responsible lifestyles, communities, institutions and societies through a broad range of career pathways across the non-profit, government and private sectors. Your professors are productive and respected researchers and scholars who are fully immersed in solving critical and pressing environmental and sustainability problems as well as creating a stimulating learning setting.

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 Precalculus  or  Grade12 Mathematics 
Applicants are required to have English 12 or English 12: African heritage, and four additional Grade 12 Academic or Advanced courses, including: Mathematics 12 or Precalculus 12 and Chemistry 12 (applicants without Chemistry 12 will be considered individually). Minimum overall average of 70%.
Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
Application Notes : Since English is the language of instruction at Acadia University, candidates must be able to communicate competently in English both orally and in writing, and students whose first language is not English may be required to present the result of the TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL or PTE Academic. Acadia's English requirements are as follows: TOEFL - 90 IBT with no subtest score below 20; IELTS - 6.5 with no subtest score below 6.0; CAEL - 70 with no subtest score below 60; PTE Academic - 61 with no subtest score below 60; Cambridge English: Advanced - 176 with no subtest score below 169; or MELAB - 80.
