Description:

In the first year of studies, economics and finance students receive a broad liberal arts education that provides a foundation for future studies. Second year provides a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of economic and statistical theory, as well
as the opportunity to explore a number of options. Third and fourth year students explore a more specialized curriculum designed to bring students closer to the leading edge of current understanding in economics, finance, or financial economics. Many students take advantage of a unique opportunity provided by our Economics program to complete an undergraduate thesis based on an original research project guided by a faculty member. Students also have the option of pursuing internships, and the
opportunity to study abroad. Through these experiences, students can stretch beyond mastery of individual course content to discover how each element of an applied project fits into the bigger picture.

The Economics Department at King’s has had an exceptionally high success rate in placing students into top graduate programs around the world. Over 80% of our Honors Economics graduates have gone on to graduate studies. Many of our students have received generous financial support to do graduate work in Economics at London School of Economics, New York University, Cornell, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia and McGill University with a large number proceeding onto PhD studies and a career in Academia. We also have an extraordinary record of sending many others to top graduate business schools and top law schools in Canada and around the world.

Prerequisites:*	These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. For admission to this program, applicants are required to have completed first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% with no mark less than 60% in 3.0 principal courses, including an average of 70% and no grades less than 60% in the following 2.0 courses: Economics 1021A/B and 1022A/B, orEconomics 1020; 0.5 from Mathematics 1225A/B, Calculus 1000A/B, or Calculus 1100A/B AND 0.5 from Mathematics 1229A/B, Calculus 1301A/B, 1501A/B, or Mathematics 1600A/B or the former Linear Algebra 1600A/B; OR the former Mathematics 030.
Test Scores:	Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 85] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
