Description:The Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a four-year program. It is offered jointly with two Ottawa-area colleges, and in both official languages. It seeks to prepare the next generation of nurses to offer quality nursing care and to assume leadership within the health care system. Its mandate is to prepare generalist nurses (a) who can work in any place offering nursing care, (b) who have developed effective communication skills, (c) who use their critical thinking and analytical skills at work and (d) who are open to lifelong learning. These programs also lead to graduate studies (MSc, MSc — PHCNP, PhD) in nursing sciences at the University of Ottawa.

The Nursing program is offered at three different campuses. Admission averages vary by campus. Ottawa: High 80s Algonguin College (Woodroffe campus): Mid 80s Algonguin College (Pembroke campus): Low 80s. A minimum average of 65% is required for each prerequisite course. Ontario College Diploma (or the equivalent) in practical nursing and one year of work in a related field. Successful completion of Algonquin College's Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition.

  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages: Certificate in Advanced English [min. C1] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 86] or CanTEST [min. 4.5]
