DescriptionThe Bachelor of Music (BMus) degree is designed to prepare you for a professional career in music, either as a performer, teacher, composer, theorist, historian or critic.

As a Bachelor of Music graduate, you'll be prepared for career opportunities in areas such as performance, education, arts management, and audio production and design. Your degree can also be used as a stepping-stone to graduate studies or another professional degree such as law, medicine or veterinary medicine.

This five-year program leads to a Bachelor of Education from the Werklund School of Education and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the Faculty of Arts. A minimum of 150 units must be successfully completed.

The BMus (Music Education) exists only in combination with the BEd program. It is designed for students intending to teach music (both instrumental and choral) in the schools at the secondary level. In addition to the core areas of performance, theory, history and musicianship, the program provides course work in conducting, vocal and instrumental techniques and appropriate pedagogy for different age groups.
