A four-year honours bachelor degree with a significant statistics and/or actuarial science component is required. Note: graduates of other quantitative and mathematically oriented programs are also encouraged to apply; this includes, but is not restricted to, graduates of commerce, economics, engineering, finance, and any of the physical sciences. The department graduate committee will determine the suitability of each student's background for success in this program. Applicants must also have an overall 78% average from a Canadian university (or its equivalent).

Description

Become a leader in statistics by studying and creating new methods of collecting, analyzing, interpreting and presenting data with the Master of Mathematics in Statistics program.

When you graduate you will have many opportunities to pursue a career as a statistician or data scientist in government, medical, technology or finance sectors, or transition into our PhD program or PhD programs at other top universities. 

The program gives you the flexibility to pursue a research paper, thesis, or co-op option, which you can switch into after the first term. Research areas include computational statistics, finance, industrial statistics, probability, and statistical theory and methods.
