Description

This program equips frontline service providers with the skills and qualifications needed to offer mental health support to infants, children and their families. The curriculum combines theoretical and practical courses, providing students with the knowledge, skills and judgment to promote positive mental health in various settings including homes, schools and community environments.

Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of children's mental health services, current research, relevant legislation and human rights, and how these elements play a crucial role in supporting children and families. Through coursework and simulations, students will explore how biological and social factors impact mental health and wellness in children. They will develop, critique and implement strategies to foster mental health in children and engage in reflective practice as members of an interprofessional mental health team.
