DescriptionMining Engineering Technicians form an important part of mining engineering teams who are responsible for a wide range of projects involving surveying, drafting, design, environmental studies, geological fieldwork, ventilation, ground control, and site supervision. Experienced faculty members will guide all learning activities while drawing on industry experience and conducting field trips to one or more operating mines in the province. Students will benefit from a variety of experiential learning opportunities, including activities at active mine sites, to gain a broad understanding of the various aspects of mining engineering, and to develop communication and leadership skills.

Graduates of the program may find employment within the extremely active mineral exploration sector, or in the operations of surface or underground mines. Graduates may also find work in more specialized areas such as mine surveying, ground control, mine ventilation, mine safety, field explorations, mine geology, and mine planning.
