| Description | Our PhD in Geography allows you to pursue in-depth exploration of a wide range of topics in human geography, physical geography, geomatics, and environmental studies under the guidance of faculty members who are leading researchers in their respective fields.
Our PhD students gain broad knowledge of theoretical and practical geography through courses and seminars, instructional experience through teaching assistantships and lectures, as well as research training and technical expertise through independent projects and research assistantships. Our graduates possess advanced skills in teaching, research and scholarly writing.
PhD students take two or more graduate courses; complete a comprehensive examination of their knowledge in their selected field of study; present a formal research proposal to their supervisory committee; conduct advanced theoretical and/or empirical research; and, defend a dissertation in which they present their findings. The PhD program typically requires three or more years to complete. | | |
