| Description | The Master of Laws (Common Law) Program (LLM CL) is a one-year full-time course-based master's program, with a two-year part-time option. The Program, the first of its kind in Canada, provides foundational training in Canadian common law for foreign trained or non-common law trained lawyers, offering students the opportunity to complete a master's degree in Law while also working towards the course-work requirements for practicing law in Canada.
Over the course of the Program, LLM CL students must complete a minimum of 30 credits of course-work, including at least one intensive foundational course dedicated to LLM CL students. Students fulfill their remaining credits from the many graduate or upper-year JD courses offered by the Allard School of Law, which include those courses commonly required by the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) to practice law in Canada.
