Prerequisites NotesApplicants are required to have Grade 12 or ABE Advanced Certificate and the following courses, each with a grade of ā€œCā€ or higher: English 12 or English 12: First Peoples or Technical and Professional Communications 12 or English 045 or equivalent; Biology 12 or Biology 050 or equivalent; Chemistry 12 or Chemistry 050 or equivalent, Principles of Math 12 or Math 050 or equivalent (for students graduating secondary school prior to 2014); and Foundations of Math 12 or PreCalculus 12 or Math 050 or equivalent (for students graduating secondary school 2014 and later). Student selection for the program is extremely competitive. ā€œCā€ is the minimum, but higher grades will improve your chances of being accepted. This cost estimate is for three semesters ($3,100 per semester). Off campus placement is $10,597.

DescriptionThe Medical Laboratory Science Technology Program prepares students to work as Medical Laboratory Technologists. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist you will be part of the team of clinical heath care professionals providing quality patient care. You will perform a variety of specialized tests using high-tech instrumentation that assists physicians in diagnoses, treatment and prevention of disease in patients. You will collect and prepare assorted samples for analysis; perform the requested testing procedures; and interpret the testing results.
