Description | Students work at computer-based workstations in state-of-the-art labs at the Ontario Post-Production Training Centre. Areas of study include film and video editing, sound editing/ mixing, and two- and three-dimensional visual effects design, as well as the big-picture field of post-production supervision. Students are also exposed to emerging technologies that play an increasingly important role in post-production, such as web streaming, DVD authoring, HD video, 3D motion capture, and multi-channel surround sound. The curriculum also entails studying visual and aural language, and the practice of structuring a story in an audio/visual medium. A substantial part of the program is devoted to post-production supervision and management - budgeting, scheduling, workflow models, deliverables, technical and personnel assessments, element management, facility relations and contracts. Project partnerships with outside producers allow students to experience the authentic pressures of demanding directors, eleventh-hour re-cuts, flakey suppliers, and immovable delivery deadlines.
