DescriptionVision, energy, and a commitment to social justice and social action. These are some of the qualities that are demanded of today’s social workers. A Bachelor of Social Work degree prepares students to work sensitively with individuals, families, and communities, and to take a critical look at the social policies that affect our lives every day.

The Carleton University Social Work plays a leading role in social work education in Canada. The School of Social Work raises awareness of social problems that affect the lives of all people in our society and encourages students to play active roles in promoting social justice. It places a strong emphasis on the interactions between people and their environments, and looks at innovative ways of helping individuals, families, and communities. The field practicum is an integral part of the Social Work degree program and offers you an opportunity to apply, test, develop, and integrate your accumulated knowledge and skills. You’ll have a chance to choose from a wide range of organizations and will work under the guidance of a placement supervisor and a faculty member.
