The Department of Modern Languages offers courses in English, French, Italian studies, film, writing, and speech. In French, the first-year courses are designed to develop your ability to read, understand, and speak the language with a facility and confidence sufficient for your immediate academic needs. Courses in the senior years build upon this foundation. Some course titles include: French civilization, translation, literary theory and criticism, and women writers of France and French Canada.
