Description | The Physical Education program at Augustana provides a solid foundation in the areas of health sciences, education, sport, and wellness. Within this program you will choose between the Outdoor Education or Kinesiology & Sport Studies streams.
Outdoor Education stream: Learn the ways of the Friluftsliv life! The Outdoor Education stream gives you a strong theoretical foundation in outdoor education and environmental studies as well as excellent wilderness travel and leadership skills. This program includes a diverse range of theory courses, activity courses, field studies, and expeditions – a unique mix that you won’t find anywhere else!
Kinesiology & Sport Studies stream: This stream provides you with a broad base of knowledge in physical education, drawing from a liberal arts and sciences core curriculum, and includes both theory courses and activity courses. Specialized knowledge gained in this stream includes: growth and structure of the human body, effective and efficient movement of the body, the edge between performance and injury, and critical engagement in historical trends and development.
