Description:

The Graduate Diploma in Biotechnology and Genomics is a 30-credit, nine-month graduate program which encompasses the study of genomics, proteomics, molecular genetics, protein biochemistry, and bioinformatics. It provides students with broad-based knowledge of theories, quantitative methods, applications of biotechnology, and bioinformatics that are pertinent to genomic analyses.

A parallel goal of the program is to provide in-depth knowledge on the following topics: functional genomics; microbial biotechnology; production of proteins of value to the pharmaceutical, agri-food and forestry industries; and the development of genomic methods for industrial and environmental applications.

Prerequisites:*	These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. The minimum requirement for admission is a B.Sc. degree with at least 15 credits in courses at the 200- or 300-level in the following subjects: genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and 3 credits laboratory in one or more of the previous subjects. For consideration for admission, students should have obtained an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (out of a scale with a maximum at 4.3).
Test Scores:	Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
